egg-straordinary colors

I am sure you know about my eggs-cellent chickens but I have not shown or told you about their egg-straordinary product! Eggs! Eggs in many eggs-citing colors! White, brown, cream, blue, green! Eggs can come in many sizes! (and shapes not so much.) I am not eggs-aggerating how beautiful chicken eggs can be, they really are amazing! I can explain which color eggs come from which chickens! Be warned.

First up, the basic color that automatically comes to mind when people think of eggs: White! White eggs come from a large variety of chickens like Leghorns, Anconas,  Sebrights, Dorkings, Polands, Booted Bantams, Campines, Blue Andalusians, Hamburgs, Minorcas, Houdans, Modern Game, Malaysian Seramas, Barbu d’Anvers, Lakenvelders, Sicilian Buttercups , and Frizzles! I have Blue Andalusians!

Next, is a color that uuuummmm… is kind of… Different.: Brown. Here’s the list. Plymouth Rock, Australorp, Orpington, Rhode Island Red, Wyandotte, Cochin, Light Brahma, Sussex, Marans, Jersey Giant, Dominique, Faverolles, Cornish, New Hampshire, Welsummer, Barnevelder, Naked Neck, Buckeye, Asil, Chantecler, Croad Langshan, Pekin, Orloff, Java, and Rhode Island White. I have Light Brahmas, a Welsummer, and a Plymouth Rock.

Now, a color that, when not a color (or egg) can be extremely delicious, cream. There are Silkies, Sussex, Barbu d’Uccles, Japanese bantams, Seramas, Barbu d’Anvers, and Catalanas. I don’t have any of these chickens but they are cool.

Lastly I shall explain which chickens lay green or blue eggs. Ameraucanas, Easter eggers, Araucanas, and Olive eggers. I have Ameraucana Easter eggers.

Now that I have told you about different egg colors, I hope you choose a favorite. Come visit my blog again soon!
